Thank you for posting this @michael. This really helps to further clarify the differences between the two. In my case with the Information Sources Survey, I originally settled on Noir City magazine as a […]

@michael I clicked the link for asking questions about the Information Sources Survey, but it seems to go to an error page (page not found). Is it supposed to link to the Assignment Q&A Group or another discussion […]

@michael Thanks for sharing this! I entirely forgot the writing center had this site. These are great resources, especially the those featured on the time management page. I’ve added the Toolbox to my bookmarks.

No worries! Thank you for the advice @michael My career is oriented towards audiovisual archives, whether it be film, tape, or born-digital. The journalist information community would align with where I am right now, but likely not in the future. Film preservationists or archivists would be a great option, given my fascination with the work done…[Read more]

I’ve successfully imported the OPML file into Feedly. I’ve never used Feedly before and I’m not too familiar with news aggregators, but it seems fairly simple use. I’m already able to see everyone’s blog content quite easily.

Choosing Your Community Discussion 1 month, 2 weeks ago
Before the course began, I was set on choosing the information community that I serve in my work as an archivist in a television news network library. I wanted to focus on content creators (reporters, producers, show teams, etc.) in the context of broadcast television archives, but struggled to find no more than a couple of peer-reviewed articles…[Read more]

@cmason Apologies for keeping you waiting! I missed this one coming in. Everything you mention in this post is doable. I would gently nudge you toward doing something that really would align with where you want to be in the information profession I’m thinking something like media, archives or archivists or similar. I had a paper a few years ago on…[Read more]

Icebreaker: Winding Down & Taking Care 1 month, 3 weeks ago
Greetings everyone! Playing guitar is one of my favorite ways to destress and clear my mind. As for winding down, Mystery Science Theater 3000 or any historical documentary program does the trick after a long day, especially old Time Team and BBC or PBS programs.
