Hello! I’m thinking of researching teenagers seeking out sex education. I was a bit concerned about finding academic articles on the subject since its a community with concerns over privacy and discretion (and safety, in many cases), but I’m actually finding quite a few. I think libraries have the potential to be an instrumental sex ed resource, especially when there is so much misinformation online (and in some places, in the classroom), but they need to consider the sensitivity of the subject and the unique needs of teen users.
@cmisola This is an important area. There is robust research on info behaviors and seeking of Yes and that includes sex education. LGBTQ+ YAs are also an important subgroup…and somewhat vulnerable these days. Agree with you about libraries serving them.
