@ectaina I would suggest focusing on the Quechua learning community broadly. My thought is you will have to pull in LIS studies of language learners, learners in general, etc. It might be good to do some preliminary searches in the databases. See this for links to search…[Read more]

@erin999 No one has done Outlander fans before. I know the community is strong! (and the show is very tied to Scottish tourism!)

@christinew12 I think using Fisher and Fulton as a way of framing your community description is a good idea. You might also share a bit about the types of information your community uses, looks for, etc. The Tiny House example for Blog Report #2 is a good one to look at for…[Read more]

@bookflyer This is interesting. I am not aware of how much published LIS literature there would be on the information behaviors and needs of Children’s Book Publishers. It may be more focused on publishers in general or authors… I have had papers on the info behaviors and needs of authors and artists before. You may want to do some trial s…[Read more]

@erin999 “Sing me a song of a lass who is gone…” I was on Skye last year and heard some folks singing The Skye Boat Song in an old castle.
Outlander would work for sure but “American citizen journalists of TikTok” might be a bit more interesting from a timeliness standpoint. Not to take anything away from Outlander of course!
-
Well, now the song is in my head so Outlander it is : )
I’m hoping no one has done it before–it will be fun! Thank you

@cmisola This is an important area. There is robust research on info behaviors and seeking of Yes and that includes sex education. LGBTQ+ YAs are also an important subgroup…and somewhat vulnerable these days. Agree with you about libraries serving them.

@christinew12 We discussed this in the chat. I think it would work to highlight those things as part of your explorations of the information behaviors and needs of the manga community.

@alannahford I have had successful papers on information communities made up of folks in recovery. You could go broad and focus on various addiction recovery communities.

@priscilla023 Both of these would work. One unique thing about the incarcerated community is the fact that most of the literature is focused on offering services to those in prison more than the usual focus of research. It is all viewed through the lens of prison libraries. For the other, you might find useful studies related to info behaviors of…[Read more]
