This week, we turn our attention to global information communities and the ways libraries and information organizations respond to change across borders, technologies, and professional networks. In INFO 200, you have been asked to think of information communities as dynamic, connected, and often not limited by geography, with technology playing a key role in how people create, share, and access information. This module asks you to build on that perspective by considering how libraries learn from one another across the world and how emerging technologies, professional collaboration, and shared values continue to shape library services for diverse communities.
Because there is no lecture this week, you have time to explore the module materials more fully and focus on your writing. For the Blog Report, you will examine the IFLA Trend Report and consider how global trends in librarianship may affect your chosen information community in the future. Drawing on course materials, the trend report, and your own research, you will create a future-facing scenario that imagines how libraries might support your community in evolving and innovative ways. This work connects closely to our course focus on emerging technologies, global contexts, and the role of information professionals in designing responsive services for the communities they serve.
