Tips for Coursework:

Dr. Linda Schamber, formerly of the University of North Texas (UNT) School of Library and Information Science, developed a helpful guide for APA 7 citations and writing. Two of your INFO 200 instructors attended UNT and found Dr. Schamber’s guide invaluable for student work.

NOTE: As of October 2019, we use APA 7th edition. Please check for accurate APA 7th edition citation style.

Looking for Peer-reviewed (scholarly) Articles:

You will be searching independently for peer-reviewed articles as part of the research process for INFO 200. To get started, the SJSU Library offers tips on how to check if a source peer-reviewed: https://library.sjsu.edu/start-your-research/i-am-looking-peer-reviewed-articles

You can also use Ulrichs to check if a resource is peer-reviewed and also examine the details of the journal webpage: http://ulrichsweb.serialssolutions.com.libaccess.sjlibrary.org/

These concepts will be explored much further in Module 2.

Writing Support:

The School of Information offers a variety of types of support for graduate-level writing. A writing tutor is available to iSchool students who would like to review their work with a specialist. See the link below for details.

Our Writing Specialists are student tutors who have met a rigorous GPA requirement and have been highly trained by SJSU’s Writing Center. iSchool Writing Specialists can help you organize your paper, cite sources using APA 7 style, avoid plagiarism, and use correct grammar and punctuation. They understand the special needs of students learning English as a second language, students with learning differences, returning students, and more

All tutoring appointments are scheduled through our Online Reservation System
