Hello! I haven’t yet watched the Class Social Time recording, so I apologize if someone else already brought this up. I’m wondering if I should choose to focus on the LGBTQ+ information community or if that’s too broad a topic. There are so many different subcommunities under that heading with different informational needs and interests, but it’s been difficult for me to choose just one. I thought about researching the Sapphic community, but this also an incredibly broad topic. Sapphics include lesbians, bisexuals, pansexuals, trans femmes, nonbinary folks, among many, many others. I noticed that there’s already been a successful project done on the transgender information community. Would it be in my best interest to choose to focus on just one of those subcommunities? My worry is that narrowing my focus might yield fewer search results.
@arielf I don’t think you need to narrow down unless you really would like to. I have had very successful papers on all aspects of the information needs and behaviors of the LGBTQ plus community. The Sapphic Community would be one that I have not had covered before in class.
@michael Thank you for your guidance. This is very helpful information.
