Hello everyone – I wanted to send out a reminder of key items related to graduate work and this course from the Getting Started Module. We are heading into an important phase of the class staring with a deep dive into research and information behavior theory.

Course Requirements

The School requires that students earn a B in this course. If the grade is less than B (B- or lower) after the first attempt you will be placed on administrative probation.  You must repeat the class the following semester. If -on the second attempt- you do not pass the class with a grade of B or better (not B- but B) you will be disqualified.

This is a core course that all students take. The assignments are about learning, but also seeing how well graduate students can perform and produce work of at least a B quality.

I will not review any assignments or drafts of assignments ahead of time and tell you what changes to make in order to get a B. I will review your work after you submit it and provide feedback at that time so you may improve for future assignments, if needed.

You cannot make up points or assignments if you did not receive a perfect score. Extra credit is also not given as this is graduate level. Do not wait until the last minute to submit your assignments as it takes time to upload and process. I encourage you to submit your assignment earlier than the final minutes.

Make sure to review the modules in detail and assignment requirements and rubrics closely. You will need to conduct external research in the literature and reading beyond what is in the lectures and modules.

If you have not written academically in awhile or would like some help getting into scholarly writing mode, I would suggest contacting the writing center.
